Linux Mint 22 MATE (wilma) has the following new features:

- All software supporting libsoup2, update to libsoup3.
- HiDPI support improved in boot-sequence, Plymouth and Slick-Greeter
- Improved Language Support.
- Removed preinstalled packages for languages other than English and one you select to save disk space.
- 8 languages available on the ISO image.
- Preserving features for users.
- Packages available in deb format rather than snaps.
- Gnome online accounts feature reintroduced.
- Some Gnoma apps downgraded to GTK3 versions.
- Improved software manager.
- Mintinstall received significant performance improvements.
- Verified flatpaks now show maintainer names.
- Unverified flatpaks are disabled by default.
- Transition to Matrix.
- Mint switched to the Matrix chat network for feature rich communicatons.
- Web app, called Matrix, preinstalled.
- Cinnamon 6.2 desktop.
- New layout editor to organize Nemo actions,
- Xfce 4.18 support.
- Additional improvements
- Sticky notes available on command line.
- Xed features duplicate selected text
- Improved Timeshift utility
- xfce4 status plugin has configurable icon sizes
- Firewall web apps has smaker menu bar and toolbar.
